One of honest, dutiful and efficient Postal Officer K Nilkanthan ASP CIC O/o CPMG Maharashtra Circle  Mumbai today (28/3/2012) met with Railway Accident at Byculla Railway Station Mumbai at 13.00 hours and expired in St. George Hospital Near CST Railway Station at 14.30 hours. 

Residential address : New Bharat Apartment, Ground floor, Near Saket High School, Chinchpada Road, Kalyan (East). 

Funeral time : Aprroximate 10.00 a.m. on 29/3/2012 near Vithalwadi Railway Station (East side) 

May we pray to the almighty to give his soul rest in peace.

Release of additional instalment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.1.2012 representing an increase of 7% over the existing rate of 58% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission. The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both dearness allowance and dearness relief would be of the order of Rs.7474.53 crore per annum and Rs.8720.32 crore in the financial year 2012-13 (i.e. for a period of 14 months from January, 2012 to February, 2013).

Closing of RMS Centres




No Railway Mail Service in (RMS) office has been closed in the country. However, merger or physical relocation of some offices with other RMS offices has been carried out as part of operational needs. Detail of merged/ physically relocated offices are given in the following table. The employees working in the RMS offices which have been merged/ physically relocated are working at the new location in the same city.

This information was given in Lok Sabha today by Shri Sachin Pilot, the Minister of State,               Communication and Information Technology in response to a question.
